You can implement our software in no time using our pre-configured industry best practices and off-the-shelf software or our software is hosted in the cloud, so you don't need to spend much time on implementation, it will be fast and furious!
We have all heard these claims by software sales folks for ERP and cloud services. Being a packaged application or being deployed on the cloud, has its advantages, but by no means will significantly reduce challenges and issues that are typically confronted in implementing business applications.
Most of challenges faced during software implementations relate to issues such as master data management, key business processes and resulting organizational change management. These issues are independent of how the application is deployed and deal directly with core issues and processes at the organization. Quality of data, how we are going to be addressing such quality issues, who owns various data assets, how will business processes change as the result of software capabilities, are issues that require careful attention if we are aiming for successful software implementation results.
We also need to be aware of resources that will be needed to address issues listed above. Do we have such resources in-house or we will need to leverage outside resources. When you put all these factors together, we will then need to sit back and develop a more realistic project timeline, an optimistic to a pessimistic range, to ensure we will be gaining substantial value from the newly selected software solution.
